Catalysts

TM Forum Catalyst projects will showcase proof-of-concept projects in one-on-one demos as well in rapid-fire presentations.

Catalysts are member-driven proof-of-concept projects which both inform and leverage TM Forum best practices and standards, connecting service providers, technology suppliers, and global enterprises to create innovative solutions to common industry challenges.

TM Forum Catalyst InFocus is your opportunity to interact one-on-one with the participants and champions of these projects. Discuss your business challenges and see how these real-world demonstrations can help you accelerate both your professional development and your company’s strategic innovation and R&D goals.

Customer Premises Equipment Virtualization

The first phase of this Catalyst developed procedural guidelines for the self-installation of virtualized residential gateways with zero-touch ordering, provisioning and enhanced troubleshooting. It also demonstrated the agility of offering value-added services like sophisticated parental controls. The next phase expands the scope by introducing an automated closed-loop system that enables proactive service assurance via monitoring, testing and analytics to optimize customer experience and reduce operational costs. This phase also evaluates the migration paths and operational metrics that a service provider needs to consider when moving to a virtualized CPE platform.

Maximizing Profitability with NFV Orchestration

This Catalyst illustrates how service providers can harness real-time financial and quality of service analytics to optimize the business value of NFV orchestration. The previous phase developed a closed-loop control system composed of data collection, analytics, optimization, dynamic policies and NFV orchestration. This phase improves the intelligence of the control system by factoring in the financial aspects of service operation in real time. This may involve new metrics, policy model extensions and  optimization algorithms.
